(some peeps are just dumb this way---> just cuase he has wireless does not mean he gets internet. Does he have a wireless network setup where ever it is he is trying to connect?

Some laptops have a On / Off switch for their wireless, is it switched to on?

Is he getting a little taskbar notification telling him that their are wireless networks in range? If so, are they protected, unprotected? If protected, does he have the pass key for the network?

These are the trouble shooting questions I ask when helping others. If all else fails, i Install Driver Genius and update drivers and install manually. this usually fixes the issue if the above mentioned are addressed and do not resolve.
